List the controls you inherited
Collect the remotes and manuals from the seller or property manager. Note the opener and keypad models. Ask about any connected app account or additional controls associated with the garage.
Discuss access changes by model
Follow the equipment manufacturer’s process for changing access or ask for help. Do not assume that changing a keypad PIN also removes every remote or transfers a connected account.
Keep the new record secure
Store the manual and service paperwork somewhere easy to find. Keep entry codes out of public notes and service-request descriptions. Explain missing controls without sharing a PIN online.
